Has anyone here ever simulated disabling injuries during RBT ? Specifically the loss of an arm or hand ? We already practice weak hand only manipulations and shooting from unorthidox positions, but I'd like to add an emotional element against a role player to instill confidence and reinforce the "shot ain't dead" mentality.

Any thoughts or past experiences ?

There are a number of agencies who do this. It's a little hard to simulate unless you actually find a way to disable the hand or arm. There is actually a company looking at re-vamping a lot of the personal protective equipment who are looking at doing something with several pieces of the gear to make it easier to simulate such things. As for experiences, you don't have to look much further than Jennifer Fulford from Orange County, Florida. In her training, they did drills such as this including one hand and off hand reloads and shooting. During a gunfight, she was caught in a cross fire inside a residential garage with two guys trying to kill her. She got shot up pretty bad and had her gun hand disabled. She did a single handed, off hand reload ... stayed in the fight and won. On the ride to the hospital, her sheriff asked her if there was anyone she wanted him to call. She said "yes ... call my trainers. Tell them that stuff works."

She was officer of the year a couple of years back.

Do the work. There are lives in the balance.
