We are just months away from implementing airsoft into our training. My proposal is to have 4 to 6 officers per training session once a month. Within a year every officer will have gone thru the training. The first years training will be shooting drills in the morning and then force on force scenario training in the afternoon. The following year, mix it up to something like traffic stops in the morning and building searches in the afternoon. This training WILL NOT take any time away from our current firearm training. Airsoft does not replace actually throwing lead down range. I plan on posting my drills on here for many reasons. I want people to pick it apart and show me flaws or what could be changed for the better.
Drill #5 Cutting the pie drill
This requires a corner or preferably a barricade where an officer can work both sides. The officer cuts a pie and when they find the target they engage it. Targets can be found at this thread http://www.rbta.net/forum/showthread.php?t=229 After an officer shows proficient in identifying a threat and engaging it add a role player that will shoot back. This shows the officer real quick what is sticking out (elbow or leg). I found out real quick when playing paintball that I often stuck my elbow out. After being hit in my elbow a few, okay A LOT, I learned to tuck my elbows in. Next have the role player change back and forth from a threat to non-threat so each time the officer cuts the pie he must make a decision.
