Just because you are dealing with a 13 year old you can't drop your guard.

SPRING LAKE, N.C. – A 13-year-old is dead and a Harnett County deputy is recovering from a gunshot wound after an early morning shooting Tuesday.
Officials say Sgt. T. Daggett and Cpl. S. Assman were talking with a suspicious person in front of the Pure gas station around 2:30 a.m. on Highway 87 near Spring Lake. Officials say they were going through the suspect’s belongings when they came across a pistol and hundreds of rounds of ammunition.
They say that’s when the suspect pulled out a 9 mm and shot one of the deputies in the leg. Deputies returned fire, killing the suspect.
Deputies have not released the suspect’s identity because he is a minor, but they do say he was a 13-year-old white male.
Assman was shot once in the thigh. He was taken to the hospital, where he was treated and released.
The SBI is investigating the situation, which is standard procedure for any officer-involved shooting.
