Is there a dangerous trend beginning in North America? Mike Ferguson in Canada was charged with murder after successfully defending against an attempted disarming by using justifiable lethal force. Now an officer in the USA is headed for the courtroom charged with murder in another chilling situation.
This is bad policy, folks. The RBTA is committed to putting together the greatest minds in the country in an effort to build up a collection of materials to educate juries and jurists. We KNOW what happens, statistically, when a bad guy takes your gun away. He shoots you, then shoots somebody else. Shooting a person like this is the right thing to do. When a criminal is unafraid of an armed police officer performing their duty to the extent they attempt to disarm them, such a criminal will have zero mercy on the innocent public the officer has sworn an oath to protect.
