Does anyone know if OSHA has rules against storing marking cartridge ammuntion and converted marking cartridge weapons together?

OSHA aside does anyone see a safety issue with storing them together?

I have regular ammuntion in one safe, street weapons in another and would like to use just one more safe for marking cartridge weapons and ammo instead of having four safes.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Hey Jason:

I don't believe OSHA regulates the storage of conventional ammunition and weapons together. I see guns and ammo in the same safe everywhere except in countries with goofy gun laws. No reason they should regulate NLTA and converted weapons together. My only concern is that you not mix NLTA and conventional ammunition. Also, the only people who should have access to the NLTA stuff are those who have been specifically trained in its safe usage.

Thanks Ken, As far as I am aware the access will be limited to trained persons. Absolutely no conventional ammunition will be in the same safe as the NLTA or converted weapons.

By the way, I would write the access requirements into your RBT policy. Well intentioned folk might understand that they aren't "supposed" to get into that safe and use NLT without the proper training, but they will anyway. They are much more likely to violate a "good idea" than they will a policy. Note the picture at the bottom of this post. Click on it and download it. It shows live cartridges sitting in a box with FX cartridges and modified weapons. This is step two on the pathway to a tragedy.
